Fujitsu’s LifeBook S6510 gets reviewed

Written by admin on May 15, 2008 – 10:16 am -

Technology News, Laptop, Gadgets, General, Images, PC, Daily update

Fujitsu’s LifeBook S6510, which we just caught wind of earlier this month, has made its way over to Notebook Review not a moment too soon, and the kind folks over there have put the machine through its paces in order to give you the skinny. As expected, reviewers marveled at the thinness of the 14.1-inch lappie, and even with the optical drive loaded in, they were delighted to find that it only weighed four pounds. Additionally, it was stated that the S6510 was surprisingly rigid, and while the LCD didn’t exactly live up to the standards Fujitsu has set for itself, it was far from abysmal. Furthermore, the unit performed admirably in a plethora of tests, the keyboard was a joy to use and the battery life was right on par. Notably, the unit did emit quite a bit of heat, but all in all, this LifeBook should certainly fit the bill if you’re looking for a business laptop that won’t add any undue strain on your back.

Technology News, Laptop, Gadgets, General, Images, PC, Daily update

All it does is places laptop’s screen at higher level in order to make it more comfortable ergonomically to use it on your desk with external keyboard. We all know how tiresome it gets when you have to type on laptop for hours, that neck strain and killing wrist pains are just unbearable.

It’s not that this iRizer is must have for regular laptop users, but it is an option for those with extra money. It’s not-so-smartly priced at USD 40.

Matias is also going to offer MiniRizer which is an iPod thing (not again). As if there was need for another not-so-useful-but-cool accessory for iPod.

How would you change the OLPC XO?

Written by admin on May 14, 2008 – 5:55 am -

12-27-07-xo.jpg

Don’t adjust your screens folks, as this actually isn’t a year-end case of déjà vu. Rather, we’re looking to give you an(other) imaginary shot at tweaking the OLPC XO now that it has moved beyond the initiative phase and been productized for the general consumer. In case you’ve been parked squarely under a rock for the last few months, you should know that the XO’s journey through production has been quite a lengthy one, and while a few countries have made substantial bulk purchases to inject these machines into their respective school systems, we’re interested in seeing how the average joe / jane located in a developed nation sees things.

Needless to say, One Laptop Per Child’s “Give One, Get One” program has been quite the success, and by now, we’re confident that some of you have already received your own. ‘Course, we’re sure there’s at least a few of you that chose this over that other low-cost laptop (and many that chose it over this), and we’re curious to know how you’d improve the newly commercialized XO now that it actually has a rival. Yeah, we too would love an even skimpier price tag, but beyond that, what hardware / software changes would you like to see on the next version? Could you stand to have a few more megabytes of RAM? Still yearning for dual-boot capability out of the box? How’s about a design scheme that doesn’t involve opaque white and bright green? As stated, we’re well aware that these things weren’t designed with LAN partiers in mind, but now that NickNeg is offering ‘em up to these very citizens — not to mention every other type of user in North America — why not toss out a few suggestions for making it more suitable for you?
