Nokia N95-3 update released early

Written by admin on May 27, 2008 – 5:37 am -

20.2.0.11, firmware, n95, nokia

Last week Nokia promised an update was next to the North American version its venerable N95, the N95-3. But, the organization played coy and failed to talk about any things a greater amount of as opposed to inventory in “early June.” We’re not significantly out of May yet but the 20.2.011 firmware update is predicted and original displays are good. Boot bit has kept on ebbed to 19-seconds on close to 30, camera start-up is now a fairly snappy two seconds, validation for Flash video has carried on added, and there is continuing to a suite of new N-Gage game demos included in the deal. That’s the kind of update we can sink our teeth to — nonetheless if European N95-1 users experience by now continued chewing it for months.

Samsung Glyde review roundup

Written by admin on May 10, 2008 – 5:03 pm -

cellphone, glyde, phone, review roundup, ReviewRoundup, roundup, samsung, verizon, verizon wireless, VerizonWireless, vzw

The Samsung Glyde was one of the most hyped phones on an American carrier in recent memory leading up to its launch, and there’s one small problem with that: it’s hard to live up to the fanfare, no matter how good (or bad) the phone might be. A common early complaint coming out of the gate seems to be the lack of support for Verizon’s MediaFLO-based VCAST TV service, a service that the Glyde’s main competition, the Voyager, supports…….

Apple Store’s US and UK sites run dry of iPhones, 3G imminent?

Written by admin on May 10, 2008 – 5:00 pm -

apple, apple store, AppleStore, cellphone, iphone, phone, uk, us

If we saw the typical “Ships in 1-2 weeks” here or whatever, we wouldn’t be sounding an alarm, but something is going on here. Both Apple’s US and UK online stores are joining the O2 choir and are now reporting the iPhone as “currently unavailable” — no 8GB, no 16GB, no nothing. It seems that Apple either significantly underestimated demand for the 2.5G models ahead of the 3G release that’s still a few weeks (or months) down the road, or the 3G model is a whole heck of a lot closer than we could’ve imagined. Is anyone suddenly having a nasty case of “I only want what I can’t have” syndrome and regretting that they didn’t order one of these bad boys a day or two ago?

Sprint “seriously considering” spinning off Nextel

Written by admin on May 6, 2008 – 4:39 am -

We’d take this with half a tablespoon of salt for now, but The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Sprint-Nextel Corp. is “seriously considering spinning off or selling its ailing Nextel unit.” That’s according to undisclosed people “familiar with the situation,” though Sprint did decline to comment on whether it actually was considering a sale of Nextel. Also of note, Cyren Call is reportedly attempting to “assemble a consortium of investors to acquire Nextel as part of its plans to create a nationwide wireless network for public safety communications,” and while it can’t be confirmed, we are hearing that Sprint is “contemplating other possible buyers such as private equity firms.” Still, these same sources made clear that “no deal was imminent and that Sprint was preoccupied for the moment with other matters.” It’s no secret that the firm would be way more attractive to suitors (read: Deutsche Telekom) if the flagging Nextel division was detached from the deal, but we guess we’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out. Epoda promises to deliver water-proof EP2501 watch phone

While that lone image above doesn’t exactly inspire much confidence of its actual existence, China’s Epoda is apparently now looking for partners to help distribute its EP2501 water-proof watch phone, which supposedly packs more features than your average, non-wearable cellphone. That includes Windows CE 6.0 for an OS, quad band 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900Mhz connectivity, a 2-megapixel camera, a 1.4-inch display, the usual PMP functions, 1GB of memory, and “support” for WiFi and Bluetooth (it’s not clear if that means it’s built-in or not, although dongles would pose a bit of a problem). Of course, there’s no word on price or availability, but those interested in doing business with Epoda can contact ‘em at the link below for more details.

Kensington unveils Battery Pack and Charger for iPhone / iPod

Sure, there are already a handful of options out there for extending the life of your iPhone / iPod battery, but since when have we been ones to gripe about a little competition? Kensington has just introduced a standard and miniature version of its Battery Pack and Charger for iPhone / iPod, which unsurprisingly provides juice to your device’s internal battery and can be recharged simultaneously. As you could likely guess, the only differences between the two contraptions are the size, price and battery life; the 0.22-pound standard model extends play time to up to 100 hours (music) / 6 hours (talk), while the even tinier mini version livens things up for another 30 hours (music) / 3 hours (talk). Each is available now for $69.99 / $49.99.
